Step 1

Automated Part Setup

We use advanced Renishaw probing systems to fully automate part setting, workpiece alignment, and datum measurement directly on your CNC machines. Instead of relying on manual edge finding, dial indicators, or time-consuming hand measurements, the probe quickly and accurately detects part locations, offsets, and orientation with micron-level precision. This automated process not only speeds up setup time but also removes human error, ensuring every workpiece is positioned consistently and correctly before machining begins.

Step 2

Tool Measurement & Calibration

Tool setters play a critical role in maintaining machining accuracy and consistency throughout the entire production process. Using Renishaw’s automatic tool setting technology, each tool is precisely measured for length, diameter, and wear directly inside the machine before and during machining. Instead of relying on manual measurements with calipers or presetters, the probe quickly and accurately captures the exact tool dimensions and feeds that data straight into the CNC control.

Step 3

First-Part Inspection

After the first machining pass, the Renishaw probe performs an automatic inspection of the part while it remains securely clamped in the machine. Instead of removing the part for manual measurement or sending it to a separate inspection station, the probe quickly checks critical features such as hole locations, depths, diameters, edge positions, and key reference surfaces directly on the machine. This on-machine measurement ensures the data is captured in real production conditions, eliminating errors that can occur from part movement or re-clamping.

Step 4

Automatic Offset Adjustment

If any variation is detected during probing, the CNC control automatically applies tool wear compensation to correct the issue in real time. The Renishaw system analyzes the measured difference between the actual dimension and the programmed target, then instantly adjusts the appropriate tool offset to bring the next cut back into tolerance.
